Local children win prize

Cabot Primary School proudly report that several of their pupils have won the Bristol Poetry Prize, sponsored by Waterstones. We have covered this exciting development in the latest edition of Vocalise!

As a brand new community venture, we are looking for proactive people in Ashley Ward to get involved with the magazine and all the things surrounding it. Want to contribute content? Learn new skills in creative writing and journalism? Exhibit your artwork? Update the community noticeboards? Help out with deliveries? Become a director? If so, we want YOU!  

Robber apprehended with help of local hero

Sergeant Mark Aston has reported that someone threatened with a knife in the area managed to help detain the offender, who has since been sentenced to 32 months. Officer Aston has noted: “After stealing mobile phones from two victims in separate incidents on the same day in St Paul’s, the offender pulled a knife, but the victim still helped to chase and detain him, allowing us to ensure the knife

Ready for distribution

The first copies of Vocalise have been printed and will be distributed across St Paul’s, St Werburghs and Montpelier between 4th-12th July!

Business Directory Opens

Vocalise is able to offer FREE listings for local businesses on the business directory –¬†http://ashleymag.org.uk/business-directory/ In future magazine editions there will also be a print version of this directory, enabling local people to shop locally. Whether you are a solicitor or a mechanic; an art shop or a publisher, this is an ideal way to reach out to local people.

Launch of Vocalise!

Vocalise is a BRAND NEW community magazine for St Pauls, St Werburghs and Montpelier. It is delivered every quarter to residents, community centres, libraries and businesses across the Ward. We first edition of the magazine has just come out (2nd July) and so has this website. So bear with us as more content gets added!

Lottery Funding Awarded

Boundless Futures CIC has been awarded lottery funding to produce Vocalise for one year. After this, it will be reliant solely upon memberships, donations and advertising.
