Solon South West Housing Association, United Communities and SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality) are organizing an exciting event in celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day.
This is a great event for our staff, residents, Board members and anyone else who is interested in the experiences of 4 of Bristol’s 100 most influential women.
The speakers are:
Jean Smith MBE: Director of the Nilaari Agency, a Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) service specialising in programmes for mental health issues and drug addiction.
Ruth Pitter: A founding member of Breathing Fire, Bristol’s black women’s playback theatre company – the only one like it in the world.
Shaheen Chaudhry: Founder and former Director of Maternity and Health links, an organization enabling non-English speakers to access health services. A Justice of Peace on the Bristol Bench for more than 20 years, she was also one of Bristol’s High Sheriffs from 2013-2014 – the first Muslim female to be nominated for this position in England.
Hanna Ahmed: Secretary of Bristol Somali Forum (BSF), which represents almost all Somali-led organizations in Bristol.
Food will be provided and a little Q&A session to answer any of your questions.
The event itself will close at 12.00 but we have booked the venue until 14.00 in case residents would like to stay and talk to their housing association and housing officers.
